I know this may sound odd. Many of you are from the northern hemisphere, you see. I on the other hand, am not. In Australia, spring has sprung, and I want to talk to you about my favourite genre to read when it starts to get hot: YA Contemporary.
New YA Releases
From a series:
- I See London, I See France (I See London, I See France #1) by Sarah Mlynowski
This sounds like it’s a bit like Anna and the French Kiss (Lola and the Boy Next Door (Anna and the French Kiss #2) Review & Isla and the Happily Ever After (Anna and the French Kiss #3) Review). Can’t go wrong there! (Unless you’re LilyCReads…)
- After the Game (The Field Party #3) by Abbi Glines
I’ve just received the first book in this series. It seems like your typical YA. Not that great, but there’s guarantee that it won’t be a 1/5 star (unless it’s by Morgan Matson, whom I loathe: Review: Since You’ve Been Gone).
- Fallen Heir (The Royals #4) by Erin Watt
I don’t need to fill you in on the infamous Royals series. I swear, I see somebody raving (positive or negatively) this series at least once a month. Some people love it, some hate it, but if you’re up for it, I think it’d be a lovely Spring read!
Spring Standalones:
- A Map for Wrecked Girls by Jessica Taylor
This was sponsored by all the top Booktubers. It sounds like Lord of the Flies ew crossed with We Were Liars (omfg FAVE We Were Liars Review)
- Kissing Max Holden by Katy Upperman
The title says it all. It’s a cutesy romance. Suits spring, doesn’t it?
- Little Monsters by Kara Thomas
I actually haven’t looked into this book much but it’s been circulating my GR feed for a little less than a month now- I thought I’d add it onto this list.
- The Lake Effect by Erin McCahan
This book gave me the creeps but has that summer-time
feel to it.
- Changes in Latitudes by Jen Malone
Okay, yes. Look at that cover. Judge the plot by that cover. Spring vibes, amiright?
- What to Say Next by Julie Buxbaum
I AM SO KEEN TO READ THE BOOK! I wanted an ARC, but I was too late to apply 😦 But it’s okay, I’ll read the final copy ASAP.
- Lucky in Love by Kasie West
It’s Kasie West. You can’t go wrong.
I don’t have anything seasonal planned yet, but we’ll see! I did have to read a horror book for one of my classes, so I guess that relates to autumn! If only I read it in October when we celebrate Halloween! I’ve heard so many rants and raves about Erin Watts’ series! One day I will read it and form my own opinion! 😀
