Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake
My rating: 1 of 5 stars
Disclaimer: this wasn’t bad, I was just really bored. For the entire book. These ratings are so I can go back to see if I should purchase/recommend this book.
MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE BOOK:
I was bored throughout the entire read of this. I had high expectations. I think the main issue was due to this 400+ paged book taking place only over a day (until the final chapters). It. Was. So. Slow. And nothing happens. I wish I just skipped to their fight. Which, by the way, was minimalistic.
CHARACTERS/DYNAMICS:
Arsinoe: I was hoping Arsinoe would tragically die bc boi is she dull.
Mirabella: Mirabella is the perfect medium between chaotic evil and lawfully good. If that’s possible.
Katherine: I WAS ROOTING FOR HER. She was the only reason I didn’t DNF this. I may consider reading the sequel, just to see how she goes.
PLOT:
It’s basically 24hrs of f*cking around until the Hunger Games begins. And even those moments are brief and not explained well.
Then it’s the end and nothing’s accomplished. Toodah.
STRUCTURE:
This book rotated between the three queens, as well as the servants Jules and Joseph.
THEMES:
– this book just WISHES it was Falling Kingdoms. Alas, it is not.
– underdeveloped magic realms.
THE ENDING:
Nothing was accomplished but I’m glad my homegirl is back. Also, that was a shame with Joseph. Foolish, but still a shame.
IMPACT:
@ me; stop giving into the 2016 hype your tastes have changed ya dummy.
ugh wow me too I was so bored throughout there were SO MANY CHARACTERS AHHH
