#Prettyboy Must Die by Kimberly Reid
My rating: 1 of 5 stars
MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE BOOK:
I thought I was going to love this book!!! I did not. It was crazily cliche and corny. I am sorely disappointed
CHARACTERS/DYNAMICS:
Jake/Peter: aka the blandest protag to ever exist, besides the guys from Shiver.
Bunker: the goofy best friend who gets himself in trouble. He’s essentially the Hitchcock and Scully (from Brooklyn Nine-Nine) of teen tropes.
Katie: Damsel in distress with the personality of old shoes that are still slightly damp even though it’s been 7 months.
PLOT:
Dull. Strung out (and it was under 300 pages???). There was an epic backstory to Jake that should have been this book’s deal. Sadly, it wasn’t. It was just some poorly written book that is a wonder to me. HOW DID THIS GET PUBLISHED?!?! Is it because he’s black? Yep cool great. But guys… the plot. It’s so bad. It’s so disappointing.
STRUCTURE:
Part 1: Ukraine. Interesting, promising, entertaining.
Part 2: HIGH SCHOOL BLUES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (v v v v v bad)
THEMES:
– bad writing
QUOTES:
I am a publisher’s joke.
THE ENDING:
It sets itself up for a sequel, but I really wish it won’t be…
IMPACT:
This probably would be great for middle-grade boys who want to read something… Gosh, I don’t even know what to categorise it as. Um… okay here. It’s for tweeny boys who want to read something that their mates wrote.
It’s overly simple and barely classifies as a novel.
I want my time back, please!
Keep on reading xxx

“Damsel in distress with the personality of old shoes that are still slightly damp even though it’s been 7 months.” Omg this had me laughing so hard. I had this book in my review pile but donated it since it was sent to me unsolicited. Seems I made the right choice!
