Etiquette & Espionage by Gail Carriger
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE BOOK:
This is a really simply written book— except there’s about three mentions of “undergarments”, so that’s why I’m sure it’s been categorised as YA.
But really; this is perfect for the tween girl. Not me, an older reader of YA (“older”— pffft, I’m 18, but I consider that ‘old’ since I am no longer the average age of YA fiction).
YOU CAN EASILY TELL THIS IS WRITTEN BY AN AMERICAN. Gail Carriger includes awkward, unused phrases of British people, such as “talyho!”
CHARACTERS/DYNAMICS:
I kept reading the protag’s name as schizophrenia lol.
Anyways that sentence is more interesting than any of the characters in this book.
PLOT:
Imagine Hogwarts, with spies.
Now take away the beauty of Hogwarts.
Okay I’m too bored to finish this review. It wasn’t for me, but I highly suggest it to 10-12 year old girls.
